How to make multiple Referral Letters for one patient
Produce several referral letters for the same patient from one consult using the Adjustor Tool, without re-recording. Name each recipient and i-scribe writes each letter for you.
Some consults need more than one referral. You might be sending the same patient to a cardiologist and an endocrinologist, or writing a GP letter alongside a specialist referral. You can produce all of them from a single consult using the Adjustor Tool, so you don't have to re-record or start a new patient for each one.
The Adjustor Tool only appears after you've generated your outputs. It isn't shown while you're transcribing or before you click Generate. Run the consult and generate your outputs first, then the adjustor box appears so you can request more letters.
The video below walks through the full workflow. The steps underneath cover the same ground in writing.
Generate your first outputs
Run the consult as usual, making sure a Referral Letter is one of your selected outputs.
Click Generate. i-scribe produces your note and your first referral letter.
Ask the Adjustor Tool for each extra letter
In the smart adjustor box, type a plain request naming who the next letter is for and what it should cover. i-scribe writes it as its own referral letter. Make one request per recipient.
Find the smart adjustor box below your generated outputs.
Type your request, naming the recipient and specialty. For example: "Write a separate referral letter to Dr Smith, cardiologist, about the chest pain."
Send the request. i-scribe writes the new referral for you.
Repeat for each additional recipient, one request per letter, until you have all the referrals you need.
The Adjustor Tool can't make one output read from another. Ask for the content you want directly (for example the reason for referral and the recipient) rather than asking i-scribe to "copy this from the Medical Note", which it can't do.
Prefer to dictate instead?
If you'd rather speak the extra referral than type a request, you can add a blank output and dictate straight into it. See Add a blank output and dictate into it.
Tips for clean referrals
Name the recipient and specialty in every request so each letter is addressed to the right person. Keeping one request to one letter gives you cleaner, separate outputs that are easier to review and send.
Always read each finished letter before you send it. i-scribe drafts the content, but you remain responsible for the final referral.
